Lactation support and information for all families
On a warm summer day in 1956, a group of women sat together at a picnic and shared their experiences and challenges in breastfeeding their babies. From that humble beginning, La Leche League International (LLLI) blossomed, growing into its present form as a worldwide organization, but never abandoning its core belief in the strength and importance of one-to-one sharing of information and support.
As part of LLLI, La Leche League of Connecticut (LLLCT), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, continues this tradition of peer-to-peer education and support through the efforts of its many accredited volunteers. While primarily dedicated to helping families provide human milk for their babies, LLLCT also offers continuing education opportunities to healthcare professionals, access to the latest research on lactation management, and generally seeks to promote an understanding of the provision of human milk as an important element in the healthy development of babies, parents, and the community.
LLLCT is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We support all breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human-milk feeding families, inclusive of race, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, religion, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, primary language, ability, and socioeconomic status.
